By the by. Sterns article said that the Annual Budget for New York City's schools was twelve billion, for 1.1 million students. That's about an 11K average per student. And the AFL/CIO latest publication on Teacher's salaries in 2001 shows the Average NYC Teacher at 50,0120. When you add bennies and summers off, not too shabby. And I know they just got a major raise. So I don't buy your argument that money is the major problem in NYC.
