With regard to GMs, here they are for some other retailers: Sears--38%, HD---32%, ODP---30%, WMT--23%, KMRT--23%. So there is nothing spectacular about Amazon's 25% GM. Imo, the most striking thing about Amazon is that they have managed to lose every dime investors have put in to the company and then some. But Amazon is a surviving internutz company that is rapidly growing the top line, so folks seem willing to adopt a liberal vision for the future and pay up for it (regardless of the fact that the company has been consistently losing money on the bottom line in the past).
