Kyros, a 30 second glance at our energy needs and an understanding of global energy markets would lead to the obvious conclusion that the global economy will never not be totally dependent on the free flow of oil from the Persian Gulf oil supply.

But through improved production from Iraq and a strong push for fuel economy here in the USA we could gain tremendous leverage over Iran, Russia and Saudi Arabia.

If Bush wanted to really increase the threat to SA today, he would announce a firm commitment, wrapped in patriotic fervor, a program to increase MPG requirements for automobiles by 50% in 10 years. He could state it is every Americans personal duty to fight the Saudi's and the Iranian's in this manner.

This would scare the living hell out of OPEC.

But then again we are a country where people sue McDonalds because they are fat.
