The blame game for energy has little to do with political affiliation. Every politician knows it is suicidal to do anything that will threaten the American birth right of big cars / SUVs and cheap gasoline.

It is mental masturbation to think we can become independent of the Mideast oil. In fact our dependence will increase heavily over the next 20 years. Reduced dependence means very little as well. Supply demand balance will remain tight globally and oil is a fungible commodity. The simple truth is there is way to much oil along the Persian Gulf in SA, Iraq Kuwait, UAE and Iran.

Take a sobering look at reality here presented by the EIA.

We cannot ignore the Mideast, they will come here again and make sure of that.
