I did read about Vermont- I thought it sounded very reasonable. "Reasonable" is the term in question, I think. I believe in respecting but questioning. If we had left alone the miscegenation laws, or the laws about separate but equal, we would be a sorrier nation. It seems to me this is such a crossroads, a time to look closely at why we do what we do, see if it makes sense, or are we just acting from our conditioning. And I think everyone has to be alert to the tendency to allow his personal prejudices to color his reasoning. I do know you try very hard to separate those.
