What they fail to translate for those not up to speed, which is probably a huge majority, as well as yourself, is that northeastern Iraq was not controlled by the Regime in Baghdad, but by the Kurds.Saddam had no connection whatsoever to this group , which was destroyed by a Kurd/American joint force such as what operated in Afghanistan.

KC, that is utterly false, as has been pointed out to you before. Ansar al Islam was AT WAR with the Kurds. Ergo, the land controlled by Ansar was NOT controlled by the Kurds. The Kurds said (and some good reporting seemed to confirm) that Ansar was working together with Iraqi Intelligence. In any case, Ansar was an Islamist group at war with the Kurds, whom the Kurds defeated only after the Americans came to help them from the air.
