Ho was the worst kind of enemy because the Vietnamese were willing to die -- right down to the last man, woman and child -- to free their country of foreign domination. Iraq is not like that. But on the other hand, the short-term prospects for the US to control Iraq are not good -- and in the long run they just get worse and worse. Saddam proved that the Iraqi people can be beaten into submission -- but beating the Iraqis into submission would not make for good CNN coverage. The US cannot afford to be seen as a conquering power with an army of occupation. It blows the cover off the whole operation.
