What do you think a 4 month chart of the Naz is telling me?

I wasn't talking about the severity of the Naz's fall but rather the longevity.

The economy has held up as well as it has partially because of the tax cuts, but its true that the factors you mention are bigger, the tax cuts have not been big enough to be really decisive.

The tax cuts have been a less than minor influence. Its the equity refis that have kept this economy afloat. Equity refis made possible by the prosperous nineties under Clinton.

Because Bush apparently does not have a fiscal bone in his body, he putzed around just a little too long, ignoring the lessons of his father.

His father got in trouble (both political and for the country economic) by raising taxes. Bush has hardly ignored that lesson.

You all can't see the forest for the trees. "It is the economy, stupid" was far more important a factor to the voters than raising taxes. Raising taxes freaked out the right and on election day, they sat on their rich asses and didn't vote. The rest of us voted for Clinton because the economy was stuck in third. That's how Bush lost his second term.
