Glenn,

Thanks for the Drudge Report. I've been wondering about the financial side of his bidness for a while.

The part I find totally unbelievable is this:

4. Don't Discuss Business

Drudge never explains how he stays on top of the news 24 hours a day. This builds mystique and creates buzz, which translates into traffic. The result: millions of readers and not a penny spent to advertise the website.

I'd bet real money that if we look far enough into the recesses that we'll find dollars, gossip and staff flowing from some of the multi-variate foundations founded by Richard Mellon Scaife.

The "Horatio Alger, born in a log cabin, I walked to school 10 miles up hill both ways" mythology is just simply not credible. Nor is the notion that nerd with a six figure income is scarfing burritos for lunch.

********
Re: The absence of AS does leave a void of sorts, though I would hardly describe most of his efforts as "oppo." The damn repetition is maddening.

Agreed on the repetition. What really fried me, though, was the singularly willful decision to pontificate in lieu of providing any URLs to the fray. That makes credibility too easy to doubt. It's like the used car dealer saying "trust me, I know more than you do"......
