The movies' detractors are screaming "anti-Semitism" as I guess you've heard. But Gibson has been faithful to the Gospels, which raises the issue the secular fundamentalists want to see raised - that the Gospels themselves are anti-Semitic. I believe they are also concerned over the power of the movie and the impact it will have.
