So you do not think that society has a legitimate interest in promoting childbearing? I cannot agree, so it is an example that does not make much of an impression of me.

I disagree even more emphatically in the second case, not because there are not hard cases requiring judgment calls, but because ordinarily, if you have done someone wrong, you owe that person an apology as a matter of justice. Again, I am not arguing my position, I am merely saying that it does not resonate at all as an example of "do your own thing" smorgasbord.

I can give you a couple of examples that make sense to me: within a broad range (excluding, for example, gangsterism), I think it is mainly a personal matter to determine upon a career. I do not think there is any rule, aside from the standard "exercise a little common sense", about choosing an automobile. I think one should make some charitable contributions, and more the wealthier one is, but that there is no clear figure tha one must aim at, and that one has a lot of discretion about what to support. Those are my examples of instances that are not rule- laden........
