The big question is whether he can be derailed during the nominating process

That's the question, we'll see if he's tough enough to keep his cool. It's a true test of one's convictions to be massively attacked from all directions, including one's own party, the media, any entrenched corp interest, and the opposition armed w. $200 mill and a $trillion in new contract promises to contractors around the country. Whew. A true test of "grassroots" type of campaign

. I dont think dean would have as much trouble tacking back to the center as some pundits think

He's already there. That's brain-damage on the part of pundits, trying to fit the GOP (and Lieberman) propaganda that anyone non-Bush is "liberal", forgetting that Bush is overseeing the growth of a royal empire of America and the looting of several generations.

then a sharp centrist turn stressing going back to tax policy under clinton to fight what he will call out of control balanced budgets
Raising or lowering taxes makes no difference except briefly in a recession, only reducing gov't. The truth that will dawn eventually is that regardless of how it is financed (raise taxes, borrow from the future), it is expenditures that are the tax on Americans. It is excessive and secretive gov't that is the danger.
