The Policy
or
The Charter of Right and Freedoms

The Alliance policy is the problem.
Many readers from Western Canada may not be able to spot the contentious phrases that spell the death knell of Alliance federal ambitions, it isn't any single policy, though a few are clearly atrocious (choose one), readers from Eastern Canada apparently see them fine. (see election results for Reform/Alliance).
Canada has a Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the interpretation of this document is not left in the hands of politicians (not even the Liberals), politicians can be extremely partisan and petty, it is left in the hands of the courts.
The courts decision on same sex marriage is clear and is based on the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, would you like a person like Mr. Day having the power to decide what Canadian freedoms were legitimate ?

Would you vote for this guy #reply-19177303
