Color blindness and sickle cell anemia are heritable traits. That does not make them adaptive. The mere existence of homosexuality does not make it adaptive, even if it were wholly genetic, which it is not.
Cunnilingus is a practice, and does not preclude having coitus and reproducing. Homosexuality is an orientation, and one that would, if universal, lead to the extinction of the species. In addition, the bipolar orientation of our genitalia is obvious, just as it is obvious that our legs are for walking and our hands for grasping. Thus, homosexuality is maladaptive. At a minimum,heterosexuality is a more favorable condition.
Finally, whether or not the world will die out has nothing to do with what is healthier for the species and society. When you take your vitamins, do you stop, say the "the world will end someday", and toss them in the sink? Have you sworn off aspirin because "the world will end someday"? |
