I have a very hard time believing Iraq wasn't thought through many steps down the line. An endeavor like this is just too much work to launch into w/o some sustaining motivation. When I ask about motivations (with respect to ALL Bush Admin. policies, not just Iraq), I wonder what these folks care so much about that they are willing to risk other peoples' lives, widespread public excoriation, expenditure of resources that could be used elsewhere, etc., etc. What is the payoff? I just cannot believe it's something as cynical (and transient) as material gain. Can it?
