Why kid gloves for the Saudis? Take a look at this: biz.yahoo.com OPEC is producing flat out, except for the Saudis. The Saudis can precipitate a world recession (and a Bush defeat in 2004) practically at will by cutting their production by a million or so bpd, thus bringing oil prices easily above $40 per barrel. Or they can use their surplus production to push prices down in the low twenties, thus helping considerably the budding US economic recovery and guaranteeing a Bush victory. Kyros
