Actually, most of the handicapped people that I know resent the attempts to pretend that they have no afflictions. Terms like "handicapable" strike people like my brother, who has cerebral palsy and uses an electric wheelchair to get around, as demeaning, because it treats them like infants who are going to be fooled into thinking they are not unfortunate by mere happy talk.

Additionally, I know quite a few people, homosexual and heterosexual alike, who like the idea of engaging in transgressive sexual practices, and find it a turn on. I doubt that many people would engage in bondage and discipline if it were not naughty. So it may be that some gays would revel in the idea that they were special, and transgressed the norm.

I have talked people into taking a more tolerant attitude towards gay people from time to time. I believe I would not have been effective if I had not acknowledged that something was amiss. If I pretend there is no basis for preferring one to the other, they would just think I was an idiot, frankly. So, far from giving aid and comfort to the bully boys, I think that someone like me is likelier to reach them.

There is no inherent conflict that I am aware of. I have no idea what the statistical breakdown would be.
