It's hard to imagine how there can be some sort of moral blemish on the US acting in its interests against the UNSC, when all that means is the US acted against the interests of Russia, France, and China.

Who were all acting against the interests of the UNSC binding resolutions by striking deals with Saddam's regime in violation of the sanctions and as "compensation" for opposing further enforcement of those resolutions..

It's like having a bunch of judges who will convict and sentence someone based upon the law, but then do everything possible to prevent the sentence from being carried out or enforced.
