unless you insist that acceptance suppress having a preference, and revealing or acting upon it in limited circumstances........

Yes, at a minimum. Other manifestations might be not having a preference at all, having only a hint of a preference, being negligibly invested in one's preference, and being indifferent to whether or not others share your preference. I, too, would be relieved to know my son was heterosexual. Parents always want the greatest possible opportunities for their children and are saddened by anything that restricts those opportunities or makes them more difficult to achieve.

"Tolerance" is a tag to indicate less than full indifference between heterosexuality or homosexuality.

Tolerance suggests that there is something to overlook. Acceptance suggests that there is nothing of sufficient consequence to require overlooking.

It's a small difference, but IMO significant one, on the sliding scale. Like X was saying the other day, that is what we talk about here, differences.

Perhaps the difference between us is more a function of your being more controlling and my being more live and let live than a difference in how we perceive homosexuals. I don't know. I'm still trying to sort it out. I just see a difference in attitude that cannot be fully explained by the small difference in our policy positions on gay unions.
