Fox wanted desperately to take the US side, in the interests of improving relations in general, but he was unable to do so in the face of the arrogant way the neocons went about their excuse for 'diplomacy' on attacking Iraq, it was strictly their way or the highway on the matter, so Fox was forced to the highway ..... the bribes and the bullying out of DC at this time will remain legendary, and they turned against themselves some very basically pro-US players in México .... much the same was happening with Chile, even though the chilenos don't have the visceral opposition to invasion of one nation by another, having not been invadees near as much as the mexicanos

Particularly amusing was one suggestion from some neocon apologist at the time, that México was succumbing to pressure from the french ..... well if this hack had only studied a little history he would have known how stupid that was, since in all its history México has had only two nations invade it - the US, and France

[edit] - this just in, on the Bush Admin vs. Normal People case - #reply-19189260
