PETER CUNDILL & ASSOCIATES (BERMUDA) LTD. - HOLDINGS OF CAPITAL ALLIANCE GROUP INC.

Peter Cundill & Associates (Bermuda) Ltd. (Cundill), a privately owned Bermuda-based portfolio manager, has disclosed the it currently controls, on behalf of a client account over which it has discretionary trading authority, a total of 1.85 million common shares and warrants to acquire an additional 400,000 common shares of Capital Alliance Group, representing approximately 11.91 per cent of the issued and outstanding common shares if the warrants were exercised. Of the common shares and warrants, 1.45 million common shares were acquired on various dates from April 25, 2002, to June 4, 2003, in transactions conducted through the facilities of the TSX Venture Exchange, and 400,000 common shares and the 400,000 warrants were acquired as units (consisting of one common share and one warrant to acquire one common share) in a private placement transaction completed on April 25, 2002, for a purchase price of 25 cents per unit. The transaction that gave rise to Cundill's obligation to issue this news release was the acquisition of 523,000 common shares, then representing approximately 2.77 per cent of the outstanding common shares of Capital.
