Gary Coleman, Gallagher eyeing governor's mansion Undated-AP -- It gives new meaning to the term "only in California." The October governor's recall election is drawing some unlikely candidates -- including former child star Gary Coleman and comedian Gallagher. Coleman -- star of the 1980s sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes" -- plunked down the 35-hundred-dollar fee required to make the run and declared himself a candidate for governor. Gallagher is wrapping up efforts to get enough signatures to make himself a candidate. He was known for smashing watermelons with sledgehammers in his stand-up act. Copyright 2003 Associated Press.
