Why do they keep shooting themselves in the foot like that ?
Mr. Charest has done quite well for himself and I expect that in coming years he will be a very serious candidate for the job of Prime Minister. The voters in Quebec have given him what may be one the most important posts in the Canadian polity. I was very sad to see Mr. Charest leave the Progressive Conservatives but I think he is better suited to his current job than any other person in Canada.

The only other Conservative to survive the Kim Campbell debacle was Elsie Wayne.
