Larry, . If i remember correctly reading todays post here, you completed your task very good in buying... . ... want a cheap computer for second puter. Celeron 1500+ or good AMD, 20 gig HD, 256 Sdram or 128 DDRam, no monitor or keyboard or mouse. internet connection, cd rom ... like to pay less that $200 . Gottfried replied to my mention of a magazine article, that rated eMachines very low, in that his old one worked well. While i did find the url to that article, which rated lots of areas, i did remember reading a few months ago on ZDNet that they rated eMachines as a good buy, especially at the cheapo end. . That article rated Dell A+ and ABS A, and a quick glance at the Dell web site showed the cheapest at about $800, and the ABS web site at about a $700 range. No sure now if it included a monitor. . For myself i'am quite sure a Wal-Mart $499 eMachine w/ monitor and a read & write CD and 128 memory will be fine for my web surfing. . The Wal-Mart 1 or 2 week return policy will allow me enough time to run the machine hard to see if its a lemon or has a weak part. . On abspc.com is the pc magazine article, pcmag.com . also, on the above ABS pc web site i found, .
