Alliance policies
or
Early Reform oustings

I have considered several reasons for the lack of Alliance support in eastern Canada. Kastel mentioned that the visceral reaction of voters is likely an important factor, I do not disagree with this.
The Alliance policy itself is the primary problem, this is what I believe.
Tolerance for a diversity of political and societal views is the hallmark of Canadian politics, with a catch. The decision of the RCMP to charge David Ahenakew under Section 319 of the Criminal Code of Canada is a case in point. When it comes to men like Ahenakew, Keegstra and Zundel, you are correct, I have no tolerance for their diversity.

Do Canadians express what they feel by voting, yes, do Canadians in eastern Canada vote for the Alliance, no. Blame who you want, Trudeau and Atkinson may be entirely to blame for the Alliance performance, I suspect it might be the planks.
