Iraq had a terrible, but stable, government. The region is far more unstable without that terrible government,
OK, here you are saying that in your view, the region was more stable and thus better off with Saddam's gov't in power. Is there anything incorrect about characterizing this view as objectively pro-Saddam? I don't think so.
If the US had the UN flag to fly it would have been much tougher for al Qaida to make good propaganda use..
This is incorrect I think. And my reason for thinking so is that OBL did use the UN-sanctioned strikes and sanctions against Iraq as propaganda. (see extract of Osama's 2nd fatwa below).
UN-sanctioned air strikes and economic sanctions have been used as anti-American propaganda both by AQ and lots of others. In case you don't recall, until the latest war became an issue, false charges that the US was killing massive numbers of Iraqi children each year through the UN sanctions were common (mentioned as a charge made by OBL in the second link below.
Jihad Against Jews and Crusaders World Islamic Front Statement 23 February 1998 ...... Second, despite the great devastation inflicted on the Iraqi people by the crusader-Zionist alliance, and despite the huge number of those killed, which has exceeded 1 million... despite all this, the Americans are once against trying to repeat the horrific massacres, as though they are not content with the protracted blockade imposed after the ferocious war or the fragmentation and devastation.
