ild,

In my post was a URL to an Aussy bank that offers these rates. I do not know if the Aussy banks would open accounts for non citizens, but if they would we could send them cash for care taking. I have not purchased any, but sure would like to be able to have access to these rates.

I sent an email to the New Zealand government asking how I could buy their new offerings and will let you know if non citizen individuals can purchase the debt directly.

nzdmo.govt.nz

I have been purchasing New Zealand, Australian and Canadian government debt through Smith Barney. I looked into adding to my position last week and it did not make any sense based on the yield of my current holdings.

It is a struggle preserving capital these days and get a return greater than inflation. <g>
