The Iranians have a bad habit of thinking the oil in the ground is theirs to sell or not to sell as they se fit -- that is unacceptable to us.

What utter nonsense. Iran is an OPEC country - it makes production decisions that it thinks are in its best interests like all other oil-producing countries, whether SA, Libya, Algeria, etc.

US foreign policy has two objectives in the ME: (1) Keep the oil flowing, and (2) Israeli security. Unfortunately our policies have led to a byproduct that we are now paying for dearly -- widespread terrorism -- and now we have to fight a war on terrorism to ensure Israeli security and oil supply security.

I'm presuming your prescription is abandoning both of the objectives you identify - a complete withdrawal from the ME?
