DENVER - New figures from the state Department of Health show another jump in West Nile virus cases in Colorado.

The department is now confirming 195 cases of the virus; 29 of them are new.

The virus has killed five Colorado residents.

Colorado leads the nation in the number of West Nile cases, but health officials say most people who are infected won’t even know it.

The virus has shown up in humans along the Front Range and eastern plains, but no human cases have been reported west of the Continental Divide.

Pitkin County officials say the mosquito type that carries the virus hasn't been found above 7,500 feet.

Residents can call a toll-free hotline at 1-877-462-2911 for more information about the virus.
