We've lost an awful lot of tech jobs forever. But, in all honesty, I never understood why someone should be paid $50,000 a year to unplug an old keyboard and plug a new one back in. Let's face it _ if my PC at works locks up, I can shut it down and reboot it just as easily as the IT guy.
When computer equipment was expensive, sure, it made sense to try to repair what you could.
But when a company can buy new PCs for $500 apiece, just how long do you want to pay somebody to try to overhaul an obsolete piece of junk?
