Arnie is coming in at a whole other level. Prop 187 was popular, and still is. But unlike traditional pols who would shrink from anything forthright, Arnie will get a pass from the other 40% who didn't vote for it, just by sticking to his guns.

At this stage in the economic malaise, Schwarznegger represents something no one else in the race does - unbridled optimism. Calif is doing slightly better than the rest of the nation already, but with show-biz enthusiasm will cause millions of decisions in business and politics to be made in a positive direction that wouldn't otherwise.

In this Infotainment Age, perhaps its as important what the production values of a candidate are, as the policies. At least at the state level.
