Funny you should refer me to ol' Fred Reed. He and I grew up in the same town, and I've corresponded with him a bit. When he writes about the Arlington County I remember from my youth I feel like I'm still there. I can feel the warm summer night air, hear the crickets, scratch the mosquito bites... You and Fred would have gotten along famously with Augustine of Hippo, howling for the heads of Pelagius and his free will followers. Determinism. Bah, humbug.
