I suspect that some of the heat is being generated by nuclear and conventional plants. The plants reject 60-70%
of the heat producing power and much of the power eventually
goes into the enviroment at the end user. Interesting enough, France just passed a law banning imports of all things like watches that use Tritium luminescent dials. Imagine how much power could be saved if everyone didn't have to turn on a light to see what time it is.
