Yes, properly understood. The "gut" is our intuitive, non- reflective take on things. It is a form of our general ability to synthesize experience and recognize patterns, the sort of thing which allows us to engage in complex speech while computers cannot seem to get beyond the level of a three year old. As such, in certain contexts it is superior to reflection, because there is too much to bring to bear to process things in a methodical way, especially if you have to decide something quickly. However, over- reliance on the gut is not a good idea..........
