I don't see us as having any substantive disagreement. No, I haven't read Rand's Virtue of Selfishness yet, though it's one of those books which lurks in the back of my mind as something I should get to at some point. Mark Twain contended that all our acts are inherently selfish, even those which are ostensibly purely charitable, only we mask the selfishness with claims of more approved motives.
