Neocon, once again you've shown your propensity to think for yourself. Be careful, it will not sit well with most of the Bush administration supporters. g.
As far as the "intelligence available at the time," please note the distinction between what the administration spins as the "best available intelligence" and the ongoing leaks FROM THE ACTUAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES with respect to what that intelligence actually was. Any administration can incessantly reiterate their spin of what was there, the truth, however, seems to be that there was a lot of counter information and assessment available, and that it was demeaned, challenged, and attacked BY THE POLITICIANS because it didn't aid them in their efforts to enlist the support of the world and the American public for the invasion and occupation of Iraq.
It seems Orwellian to attempt to justify our actions based on what we say the whole world believed, when the very basis for the whole world believing it was their acceptance of the accuracy of OUR intelligence assessments and the veracity of the BRITISH AND AMERICAN politicians that reported those assessments. And yes, I include other administrations in that category, including the Clinton administration. |
