I can not think of a single statement that can be applied to one's experience that is also resistant to abuse. Of course, the more cliche a word or phrase becomes, the more subject to abuse it is. We did an exercise last month related to absolutes, specifically absolute moral ideals. We came to consensus that such things exist but; where an absolute could be applied to circumstance, especially when referenced to conduct, it is subject to unique viewpoints and opinions. The word "absolute" is somewhat taboo as it has some religious connotations but similar other terms such as: "touch stones" or "moral truisms" seemed to be acceptable.
