In order to spread and flourish, terrorism needs for its targets to respond violently in anger to terror and to ignore the roots of terror. Terror feeds on the response to terror -- it feeds on the cycle of violence it creates. The violence of the response sustains the terror. The roots of terror run deeper than the violence. Rarely if ever do I see a single post on the FAD thread that speaks about the roots of violence. But I see lots of posts glorifying the cycle of violence, assuring us that we are on the right track because we can bring a level of violence to terrorists that we feel certain can stop the cycle. Only it does not end -- it spreads as each day passes.
