By invading Iraq we proved to the world that terrorism and 9/11 are going to be used by us as an excuse to use violence against anybody we do not like and to use violence to obtain anything we want. With our unilateral invasion of Iraq we put the Buhs Doctrine in motion. By adopting the Bush doctrine we have repudiated international law, and we have proven ourselves incapable of leading the international community. We have also showed ourselves as a people more interested in securing oil than in defending humanitarian interests. We reduce words like "liberation" to propaganda slogans. And all of this does nothing to make us more secure. On the contrary, we play a key role in perpetuating terror. The war on terror must start with an honest assessment of our own policies -- and under Bush, the policies do more to feed terror than to stop terror.
