Defenses are getting faster and smaller in an effort to deal with running QB's. That cycle will end when 2 things happen. First, smart teams will start landing BIG, FAST backs that will blow these smaller defenders off their feet. That will create a need for bigger defenders again. Second, after a few promising QB's knees are blown out leaving their teams in salary cap hell we will see a return to the prototype pocket passer. It makes ZERO sense to have your 10 million dollar man running up field risking his career. After a few of these "New era" QB's have their career ended teams will stop drafting them and defenses will return to LARGE hominids.
