That's a very good point...
With the cost of Iraq at 1/2 trillion dollars, all going to Halliburton, ExxonMobil, United Technologies and a slew of other defense contractors, etc, etc US taxpayers would no longer be able to expect that their tax dollars will go toward anything representing the core values upon which a free nation of PEOPLE depends. The machinery of "empire" will soak it all up as it always has in every empire throughout history. The well-being of America as a freedom-loving, responsive (not reactionary) society should take precedence over the reckless adventurism and ideological bankruptcy of global hegemony.
