By "the market" I hope you distinguish between the nasdaq and the Dow.
Nasdaq stocks typically have no earnings.
The dow remained quite steady as the nasdaq cratered.
The dow didn't drop til shrub took office.
As I said...a President can't, by himself affect the economy or the market very far to the upside but a few boneheaded moves by a President can trash the market.
The Dow drop is an indication that shrub was EXPECTED to make some boneheaded moves.
