NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Countrywide Financial Corp. (CFC) is moving its business out of California in order to "stay competitive," said Chief Executive Angelo Mozilo.

It's too hard to operate in California because of increased workman's compensation rates and other restrictions, Mozilo said in a CNBC interview Wednesday.

"This is clearly an anti-business state that appears to be on a suicidal mission," he said.

Mozilo expects Countrywide to have a "fabulous year" this year. Although next year won't be as strong because of rising interest rates, he expects next year to be strong also.
