<sigh> I am referring to PhDs ge. PhDs and top quality software teams create tech here and as long as these visas exist, new tech can be dumped in india. That is what I am talking about.

And why I get arguments about simply shutting off work visas is beyond me. It clearly states in the original H1-B bill that companies that choose to use H1-Bs must pay competitive wages. They don't, of course but the bill states that they must. So if companies were really using the H1-Bs appropriately, wage reduction would not happen due to visas. You seem to think visas exist to get pay "in line". Also if the foreign teams are really world class they can be used offshore. I am not arguing against that.

This topic reminds me of arguing with an elderly person about social security benefits, everybody knows the elderly have a great deal in SS and they want to keep it at the expense of everybody else. Thats what this visa scam is. I know why companies really want these visas, because they aren't comfortable with the offshore teams completely. They want management of their tech infrastructure here actually and implementation there. They would like the team leads from india to come here for a year or so and learn all the details of their business and the tech infrastructure that Americans built HERE, and then send this indian team lead home to recreate the environment there. They need visas for this. They don't tell congress this migration of US built knowledge is their real intent, but finally congress caught on. Now, all that will happen without visas is the management of the companies that want to offshore will be held to their word- that foreign teams are equal or even BETTER than US workers, with no local handholding from the American workforce.
