He's on the record as pro-choice, pro-gay rights and pro-gun control. He's supported environmental protection regulations. He almost single-handedly passed Proposition 49, an initiative that calls for $550 million in state funds for after-school child-care programs. He married a Kennedy. In other words he is a Californian. Nice to have a californian actually run for office in California, how novel. The more I watch this unfold the more excited I am... the primaries (on both sides) have destroyed some of the top candidates for office. Especially republicans. Just last night I heard CA is the 5th largest economy in the world again. We were 5th in the bubble, then fell to 7th. Somebody must be in recession, maybe France and some other part of Europe. Just the fact that the best our primaries can produce to run the 5th largest economy in the world is Simon and Davis really illustrates the problem right there. There are over 5 candidates I consider electable in the recall, and any one of them is better than either Davis or Simon. Even Arianna I think would have been a better governor than Simon or Davis. Uberroth and McClintock are quality candidates in addition to Arnold on the republican side. Simon doesn't even come close to measuring up. BTW Senator Tancredo (R, CO) mentioned in this article has done some great work on eliminating the work Visas. He has a bill against the H1-B, there is another bill for the L-series visa from a democrat so I don't think visa elimination is a partisan issue. It takes courage for a republican to take a position against visas because their big govt lobbies are for them, so good for Tancredo.
