Kyros, Hong Kong has gone down the gurgler since China took it over as a SARS zone [special administrative region] and SARS zone [the bug, lurking, ready to strike again]. Economically, Hong Kong's reabsorption as a sar has been horrendous. Sure, there isn't revolution in the streets or murder, or bombing. But it's not like the good old days under the laissez faire British. There were some hefty demonstrations of unhappiness about new Big Brother security laws recently.

China wants to take over Hong Kong and Taiwan to get their greedy mitts on the loot.

I see Hong Kong suffering as part of China. If there was a vote by the people of Hong Kong, I wonder what political system they would choose for themselves. I doubt it would be to become just another city under Beijing rule.

Since Hong Kong doesn't have any natural resources that they would be stealing from China [such as would be the case if the town on top of a giant oil field voted for independence], there's no reason that they couldn't vote to have their own country as a protectorate of a NUN. [New United Nations].

It's time for King George II to organize that constitutional conference to revamp the WWII Victors' Club into a sensible political institution for the 21st century Globalized world.
