Ted, But who's really at fault are Californians.
Was it the fault of Californians when Davis ran negative ads against Riordan in the GOP primaries, thereby turning the 2002 election into a decision between Twiddle-dee and Twiddle-dum?
There are ten million people in LA county alone......that's one third of the state. There are close to 16 million people in S. CA., nearly half the state. All those people saw first hand what Riordan did in LA. How the hell can Davis ads take that away from Riordan? How? The CA GOP did not want Riordan as governor. Its as simple as that!
Was it the fault of Californians when Davis lied or otherwise hid the truth regarding the state of the budget?
The energy problems/bills were no secret in 2002 and they still put him back into office.......not that the energy problems were his fault but he contributed to them nicely but misunderstanding the situation and blaming others too quickly. The budget deficit was around as well but it had not grown to $38 billion yet. None of it though was big news. And yet they reelected Davis? Why?
And now......the mess has finally gotten to Californians.......they are going to eat it through their collective noses. No way they can blame themselves for re electing Davis and their legislators so they'll take it out on Davis. He's the perfect fall guy.....a nebbish who nevers tans.......heresy in the Golden State.
You watch......from the smallest mistake to the largest mistake, Californians will always try to blame someone else no matter how many times its their fault. Its the CA way!
Was it the fault of Californians when State Assembly Democrats tried to prolong the budget crisis, thereby trying to dupe the people into believing the GOP is at fault?
The GOP were as much a-holes as the Dems. Just last week they were fist fighting in the hallways with the Dems. Sit in on the CA legislature.......it will be an education.
Is it the fault of Californians when the DNP forces prominent Democrats not to run on the recall ballot, thereby restricting the choices of honest hard-working Democrats?
What does it matter? Davis is not the bad guy! He did not create the energy crisis.......it was deregulation of the energy industry that helped create the crisis. The energy industry was deregulated under Gov. Pete "the pill" Wilson. Once again, CA was first in something. When you are first, a lot of mistakes are made. CA set itself up for the fall and by the mid to late 90s, CA was falling.
Davis didn't create the budget deficit......every state in the Union is running a deficit including the great state of TX, former home to gov. Bush. CA's deficit is bigger because CA is the fifth largest economy in the world. Has Davis come up with innovative ways to take of the deficit? No but he has tried to deal with a lot of it......as much as you can when you've got Dems and Reps in the legislatures fighting wtih each other. Was Davis stealing? Emphatically no!
Do I think Davis is a great governor? Nope! But does he deserve a recall vote? Not in this lifetime. Once again its partisan politics at work exaggerated by the nature of CA and the antics of the national GOP. Taking a page from Tom Delay, Issa, the rich crook, decided to feather his own nest and go after the governorship. He's a loser and would win the governorship on his own........so he took advantage of the situation and it backfired.
And because many Californians border on the moronic.......they fell for his bs, and again, because they had to blame someone. You might well take the $70 million and p*ss it into the Pacific. OR and WA state have serious budget problems.......you don't see them acting so juvenile, do you?
I left the Golden State because of the insanity. A nice climate did not balance out the craziness and insincerity!
Is it the fault of Californians when they get frustrated because they feel they have no control over this mess, no power to change things, and no viable alternative choices presented to them?
They choose not to have control.
Think about all that before continuing down the path of blaming Californians.
Ten, once again, I lived there for ten years........I know of what I speak. You will too if you stay there long enough.
