I think Arnold is a libertarian, rather than a liberal. I think the political philosophy is at least 2 diminsional, whith one dimension being socialist vs. free market, the other being personal freedoms / responsibilities / respect for traditions, and government role in these. Don't get all academic on me......by national standards, Arnold is a liberal. The US liberals are socialist in economic matters (heavy government hand) and hands off, anything goes in personal matters. Some US liberals are socialists, most are not. They looked socialistic/radical only to conservatives. <g> Libertarians are hands off in both areas, so there is a difference. The opposite of libertarians would be fascist, who, like liberals, are socialist in economic terms, but on the personal matters they were conservatives. Who told you fascists are like liberals on anything?. Fascists are conservatives run amok......they are extremely conservative/reactionary on most all issues. They are the extreme opposite of liberals. ted
