Carl,
Some said there would be cheering crowds. I hoped they were right but it turned out to be far more complex than that but also far short of a popular uprising guerrilla war, so far.
I heard one pundit describe the iraqis as having stockholm syndrome. After 30 years of saddam they are both lost without him and fearful of his return at the same time.
Yes Iraq will be a tough nut to crack and in order to maintain our credibility and give the Arabs an alternate future we must try our best to succeed. I recognize this could ultimately be a quag but you seem to be rooting for that outcome. Every time you selectively cite a past post of yours, you show me that you are more concerned with being right than having a good outcome for the US. It is time to plan strategy from this point on and not to rehash what either went right during the war or wrong during post war. Can we at least agree to try and that includes the more dogmatic neocons as well. We must all get real. Mike
