Interesting post Carl Abba Eban once said that Israel was "tearing up its own birth certificate. Israel's birth is intrinsically and intimately linked with the idea of sharing territory and sovereignty." He was exactly right but a statement like that assumes one has a partner not terrorists trying to drive them into the sea. His other quote says it all. The Palestinians, he said, "never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity." If you put both quotes together you can see the dilemna Israel faces. Now of course they could, as Leon suggests, conquer and occupy (Hanify) the west bank and liquidate their opponents. We both agree that would be a dumb thing to do. Do you have a secret solution. I have none except this slow trek away from I2 toward peace if that is really whats happening. mike
